If you’ve made it to February and are still writing, well good for you! New habits take time. Showing up each morning (especially in January!) takes effort. And hey, we’re not looking for perfection here, simply more engagement with our writing (psst…. that also means with ourselves!) and perhaps a slow build of a new habit over time.
Personally, I’ve been writing a lot more often. I’m not always using the prompts but my commitment to daily writing is getting there. Though I’ve always enjoyed writing, I rarely have a deadline attached to it and certainly not discipline! It’s fun for me, or it’s therapy or it feels necessary so I just DO IT! But it’s been nice to work on a very personal project recently with a deadline and publication in mind. More on that soonish 🙂
So, let’s reenergise for February!
Here is our calendar for the upcoming month. Enjoy your writing space and I hope you come back again in March.
Until then 🙂
Word Prompts:
Having a list of words to spark interest on a daily basis means you always have something to write about without the pressure of the blank page telling you to write something amazing! The only objective is to write… no censor, no editing. Give yourself a set amount of time (10 minutes for example) and write on that word. The discipline alone will have you writing more often, thinking more creatively about your lyrics and getting into the zone quicker.
Here is a downloadable calendar of words. Use it as a tool to get you started! Every day is a new prompt. Write for your set amount of time and only that. Show up again tomorrow. And HAVE FUN!
Happy writing…
