Est. 2022, Irish Women in Jazz was created to empower, support and elevate female and female identifying jazz musicians in Ireland. It will also be a place to connect and commune with fellow musicians, take part in educational and professional opportunities and advance a more balanced representation across the scene in terms of gender.

Jennifer McMahon’s curation at The Dublin Jazz Co-op under ‘Irish Women in Jazz Series’ September/ October 2022
Features 7 different band leaders, first community event, brings together vocalists form the scene to create Tapestry, a podcast is launched to introduce the bandleaders to the audience.

















Irish Women in Jazz Live Podcast & Concert Series launches March 8th, International Women’s Day 2023 at Arthur’s Jazz & Blues Club.
A musician-run series coincides at The Vintage Room of the Workman’s Club, beginning in May 2023.















2024- Irish Women in Jazz is kindly supported by The Arts Council.
Three main strands are curated:
1. ‘Musician-run Series’ featuring emerging artists performing at The Workman’s Vintage Room.
2. ‘Peer 2 Peer Series’, a workshop for the community of women in jazz, facilitated by a fellow, professional community member at The Cobblestone.
3. ‘Live Podcast & Concert Series’, featuring established musicians at The Cellar, The Workman’s Club.
IWIJ becomes a festival partner with Culture Date with Dublin 8 for a sold-out show at Arthur’s Jazz & Blues Club.
IWIJ begins a residency at Lawlor’s Hotel in Naas. A rotating roster of musicians play every weekend for Jazz Brunch & Afternoon Tea.
Rufina Tishina joins Jennifer McMahon as part of the IWIJ growing team
